Lee Fields & The Expressions are currently on tour right now, and tomorrow night will be their last night on tour. It’s ending here in Los Angeles, and Plug Research/Art Dont Sleep has been granted the opportunity to host Lee’s final night over at The Echoplex. There’s going to be a slew of special guests to help bring you one of the most freshest shows that will be going down this weekend!

The Second Annual Paid Dues Habitat For Humanity Project [03/10]!

I dont know if anyone has heard of this yet, but Murs & Guerilla Union got together with Habitat For Humanity last year for the first time to build a house out in Lynwood. There were also some GU fans that also helped out (including a couple who came out from the Bay). In a couple of months from now, there will be another project that Murs and GU are teaming with HFH to tackle. There are currently fifteen spots available for filling, so if you’re interested please sign up. It’s always a blessing to give back to your community.

Project volunteers will spend another fun-filled day with Murs and Guerilla Union this year, making a difference by helping HFH GLA as they continue to offer low-income families and individuals a hand up, not a hand out, by providing them with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build and own their own homes. The registration fee for volunteers includes a VIP ticket to Paid Dues, a commemorative Paid Dues Habitat for Humanity Project T-Shirt, an autographed limited edition 18×24 Paid Dues poster and more.

I just got word yesterday from my homegirl that put this event on.. that this may be the last FLYBALL event over at Grand Star. The Flyball will continue, though. Just stay tuned for the details! This is a special night, which will feature Jay-P (DP Sound) and Stro Elliot (The Procussions). For those of you that DO know about Stro, you’re familiar with him working with the LOWBUDGET emcee/producer, Kev Brown (among many other projects, of course). So with that being said, Jay-P & Stro will be doing a special set tonight over at this party!

“Its a 90s Party!” (Mark Luv’s Birthday) w/sg 9th Wonder, DJ Numark [09/23]!

I’m pretty sure that most of you hiphop heads have heard of the Universal Zulu Nation (DJ Kool Herc, ATCQ, Afrika Bambaataa, Soul Sonic Force, X-Clan, Zulu Kings, etc). If not, then you really need to pay attention to the hiphop culture and what makes it what it is, and the influence that Zulu Nation has upon it!

Anyways, DJ Mark Luv has made a huge mark on the Los Angeles scene for many years with his skills on the tables, as well as him being the king of the West Coast chapter of Zulu Nation. Now as of last year, 9th Wonder has became an official member through Mark Luv. So, it seems fitting that 9th will be in town to help ring in another year for Mark Luv becoming older. This is going to be a hell of a party, so if you already know how 9th gets down, then you dont want to be anywhere else but at the Urban Underground at The Airliner.

Special guests who will help with the celebration include DJ Numark, Dr. Greenthumb, and plenty of others! Emcees will include Foci & Deejay Gemini, E-Train, Sharard Baker, and much more! Make sure you get your tickets early while you can, cause otherwise you’ll be left out paying what you know will be some nosebleed prices.
