In less than two weeks, the folks at ILLSOCIETY Magazine will be hosting Iman Omari‘s (Vibe)rations album release party. The crazy part about it? It’s going to be over in WeHo at The Troubadour, where its legendary status is known for hosting rock concerts! Check the lineup, and make sure you get there. Tickets are still available for purchase.
Yes, as you can see… I’m supporting this event. I’ll be taking pictures there, so if you see me around, don’t be afraid to say hello. It’s been a long time since I’ve sponsored an event; the last time I’ve done that was when I helped put a Haiti fundraiser together.
If you have yet to hear the Let It Go album by House Shoes, this is your opportunity now. He will be giving you guys a listen to it tonight at the Del Monte Speakeasy (why does that name remind me of ketchup?). Tonight will feature a slew of artists getting down on stage, for your fee of $5. Make it happen.
Album is in stores tomorrow.
On the day of his album release of Black Belt Theatre, the Gold Chain General will be doing an in-store signing as well as performing some tracks from his tenth release. Instead of just showing up, you have to call to RSVP for entry. Make sure you purchase the album ahead of time if you cant wait. Otherwise, you can do what I’ll do and just purchase it at the event and ask the brother to sign it! In the meantime, go grab the promo mixtape by him and New York’s own DJ Doo Wop called The Arrival.
Whats up, sir! I’ll be seeing you..
It’s been a minute since we’ve seen Hawdwerk & Jansport J in Silverlake. If you havent purchased Blackballs yet, then I suggest you do it now! The Cov Original duo will be in the area tomorrow night in celebration of their latest release at Little Temple. It’s free to get in, so get there early to avoid the long lines.
Big Pooh‘s anticipated album Dirty Pretty Things is scheduled to drop next week, so he’s going to be celebrating over at Zanzibar with a few of his cohorts, brought to you by Project LIVE & Ty Cannon! If you havent heard the album yet, go check the sampler over on the Word Is Bond page! Special guests for the night include Mic Holden, NO ONE (Noni Spitz & Dae One), Thurzday (who will be hosting), and KIDA! DJs for the night will be Bodega’s Cee Brown, DJ 7, and DJ Spill! The door cover is cheap, so come thru!
Wow! It’s been nine years since they’ve released an album collectively. The LA Legends are back to release their newest album, The Promise, which will be released this month, although there hasnt been an official date to state. They’re celebrating their release this coming weekend over at Vanguard. The first 500 people that RSVP will get in free! Special host for the evening will be Living Legends member, Lucky I Am. In addition, there will be birthday celebrations for Aceyalone and KPL’s king, DJ Kiilu!
Considering this is Hollywood, make sure you get there on time so you can avoid all that damn traffic.
Here we go, another Chinky Eyed exclusive! Exile has a new rap album coming out next week, so if you arent planning on getting the 4TRK MIND album just yet, you can hear it at The Airliner next thursday (or just get it through itunes). In addition, check out the 16-man beat competition that will be going down as well…
Wow. I haven’t done a post on this brotha in a long time! The last time I did it was when Jessica debuted #DEAD! on twitter. Anyhow, Mr. Johnson will be having an release show for his new album The New Flesh this wednesday at Southpaw in Brooklyn (album available tomorrow on itunes). For all my Brooklyn brethren and sisters out there, come out and show some love for a dope event listening to some fresh music from him and his band, and many other acts. There will be free giveaways as well; shit, who doesnt like FREE stuff? Full flyer is down below.
If you have taken notice, you’d see I put a “?” next to ‘Pre-Release’ in the headline. There’s absolutely no need to think hard on that one.
Okay, so I was kinda worried about not being able to bring my camera in since I didnt buy a media pass. Damn, it was a good thing that I didnt, which I’ll explain a lil later. Kress is known for their ‘celebrity-pull’; they got celebrities going in and out of that place all the time during the weekends. They even have someone at the door determining your fate upon entering the venue based on what you wear [that's pretty typical of Hollywood].
Anyhow enough about that. Upon entering the establishment, in all honesty I found myself pretty much judging alot of the heads that made it out [and obviously that was wrong of me] because I was wondering who was actually there to see Nas & Damian Marley versus being there just to party. I have to admit, there were a lot of hot females that were there, which always makes for great eye candy!
