Yasiin Bey’s Performance In Los Angeles…

It’s been a couple of weeks since’s Yasiin Bey’s reign in Los Angeles. The house of the Belasco brothers has been painted with vibrant colors, with the red and blue lights creating a masterpiece that was in sync with what the tone of the show was expected to be. The first act to open up the show was my friend FOCI, who brought out Versis to perform illCANDESCENT, and Skyzoo, who smashed Jansport Strings on top of all the dome pieces of those who were in attendance. Beat Swap Meet’s 5th Year In Los Angeles (photos)…

This month, folks in Los Angeles had the opportunity to come out and celebrate Beat Swap Meet’s 5th year anniversary in Chinatown, at Grand Star. This event was a two-day jump-off (as the first time being on a Saturday, March 16th), and from what I’ve heard, even THAT day was very festive! Unfortunately, I have taken a few pictures of this event because I got caught up talking to folks that I haven’t seen around in a while. Hopefully you enjoy these as well!

Beat Swap Meet is every three months, on the second sunday of the month.

Guilty By Association V at The Association (photos)…

If you haven’t been to the Association Bar in Downtown Los Angeles, even during The Straight Ahead era, then you really need to check this event out. I’ve posted about this new classy jazz get-down a couple of times (thanks to Amanda), but here are the photos of this month’s get down. Beat Swap Meet Celebrates 5 Years This Month [03/16th & 17th]!

This month, the Beat Swap Meet family has taken their record swap meet on tour to 5 different states! Towards the middle of the month, they will be celebrating five years in existence in Los Angeles for two days! Make sure you guys come out and support the celebration! 

This Friday, Subsuelo Brings You Nickodemus, Coleman, & Kid Gusto [03/08]!

I’ve been hearing about this event for quite some time from my friend Farah, and from what I’ve been hearing elsewhere, this is one of those places you definitely need to check out at least once! Not only is this party one of those events to check out at least once, this party is what you need to check out this friday with Nickodemus celebrating the release of his mixtape called Turntables on Las Ramblas! Special guests for this event include Mochilla‘s own Coleman and Kid Gusto!

The Subsuelo family has a project coming out in May, and they have released a single which is called El Viejo Boombap that you can stream/download on the KCRW page. If you’re up for partying all night, then come out to Boyle Heights and head to Kobos to groove until 4am! Tickets are $10, $15 at the door.
