Red Bull Music Academy (x2): Lecture Series & BOOMBOX – DILLA TRIBUTE [02/04]!

Tomorrow evening, the Red Bull Music Academy is having a special sit-in lecture with Ali Shaheed Muhammad & Maseo (De La Soul) over in Downtown LA at the Icon Lounge. If you dont know where it is, it’s very close to the Staples Center. If you’re an aspiring artist, DJ, producer, etc.. this is your time to take off and head on over to see what this event can do for you! Come out, and make sure you RSVP for this event!

BOOMBOX: 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY w/sg DJ QUIK (tonight)!

Today, Boombox turns 5, and tonight.. Chinatown will be the place for the celebration! DJs Inka One, Ben Diggin’, and Analog have been putting in a lot of effort for their monthly gigs to bring you quality shows, and this one will be going down in the history books.

Special guest for tonight: Compton’s own DJ Quik & Stones Throw’s M.E.D.! Just make sure you guys get here early tonight to avoid the long line! You already know DJ Quik has a huge following, so I strongly advise you to plan ahead!

Boombox is back next weekend, and the guests on this list are of those I’ve been wanting to see for quite some time. New York’s own DJ Center (Push The Fader) &  DJ Ge-Ology (I Love VINYL)* will be in the place to give your ears some good magic!

Speaking of which, if you want a preview of what DJ Center will be playing, he’ll be spinning at the LAST Bodega event of the season this sunday night!

Red Bull Emsee (LA) [06/09]!

MAN! The Echoplex has been blowin’ up lately (well, for quite some time)! Besides it being the epicenter for the Dub Club, the Echoplex has been the home to many events since the owner renovated the lower half of The Echo almost ten+ years ago! This thursday, it will be the house to many local heads that will come through and check out the emcee battle, brought to you by Red Bull! What’s fresh is that the cost of entry is cheap ($10) if you hurry up and purchase your tickets online. Plus, the homie Inka One (Beathackerz/BOOMBOX) will be entertaining the crowd with his tables!  Hurry up and get your tickets before the prices go up!

Red Bull Emsee is an invitation-only battle series designed to find the best freestyle rappers in the country and give them a national platform to show their skills and earn acclaim. This year’s 8-city tour begins in Los Angeles on June 9 at The Echoplex with The Trill OG: Bun B playing master of ceremonies. West Coast rap legends Kurupt (Tha Dogg Pound), Chali 2na (Jurassic 5/Ozomatli) and the legendary MC Supernatural will be doing double duty as judges and performers while DJ Inka One spins labels on the turntables throughout the night. Tickets are $10 and doors open at 9pm / show at 10pm / 18+. The winner of the LA qualifier will advance to the finals in Atlanta this fall where he’ll vie for the national championship and an opportunity to record with a headlining producer of his choice. West Coast MCs will have one more chance to represent on the mic when the Red Bull Emsee tour hits Seattle on July 28.
