Back at A3C last year I had a pretty brief conversation with Skyzoo about him coming to perform his first show in Los Angeles, and he basically said just try to get the promoters to work something out! Well apparently, things happen for a reason, and I guess the promoter gods were reading my mind, because all of a sudden a couple of weeks ago I got word that he’s coming out to perform (WHAAAAAATTT!!!!)!
This weekend, Los Angeles… you guys better show him some love and let the brother know that he definitely has fans out here! Opening acts include Foci (w/DJ Pops), Versis, Aspect One (special beat set), and a few others! Get there early as there will be a long line for this special show at Urban Underground!
Here we go, another Chinky Eyed exclusive! Exile has a new rap album coming out next week, so if you arent planning on getting the 4TRK MIND album just yet, you can hear it at The Airliner next thursday (or just get it through itunes). In addition, check out the 16-man beat competition that will be going down as well…
I know some folks missed out on Jean Grae’s live shit, but you can catch it here. Features dope acts like Hopsin & Swizzz, Ill Camille, Surrilla, and.. umm… you can find out the rest by just watching! Props to ChinkyEyed LA! Happy ten years!
I’m pretty sure that most of you hiphop heads have heard of the Universal Zulu Nation (DJ Kool Herc, ATCQ, Afrika Bambaataa, Soul Sonic Force, X-Clan, Zulu Kings, etc). If not, then you really need to pay attention to the hiphop culture and what makes it what it is, and the influence that Zulu Nation has upon it!
Anyways, DJ Mark Luv has made a huge mark on the Los Angeles scene for many years with his skills on the tables, as well as him being the king of the West Coast chapter of Zulu Nation. Now as of last year, 9th Wonder has became an official member through Mark Luv. So, it seems fitting that 9th will be in town to help ring in another year for Mark Luv becoming older. This is going to be a hell of a party, so if you already know how 9th gets down, then you dont want to be anywhere else but at the Urban Underground at The Airliner.
Special guests who will help with the celebration include DJ Numark, Dr. Greenthumb, and plenty of others! Emcees will include Foci & Deejay Gemini, E-Train, Sharard Baker, and much more! Make sure you get your tickets early while you can, cause otherwise you’ll be left out paying what you know will be some nosebleed prices.
If you have witnessed Jean Grae’s performance a few weeks back for ChinkyEyed’s 10 Year Anniversary, then you should know what it’s like to be at an authentic hiphop show, brought to you by one of the hardest working groups in the streets of LA!
Blu‘s currently creating a buzz with his new release album, called No York! In fact, if you were at Rock The Bells (LA), he was walking around passing out hard copies to everyone! Just in case you want one, make sure you get here to grab one! Scarub of the Living Legends will be in the house rocking the crowd too, right alongside Rebels To The Grain, Pawz One (celebrating his debut record release), Spliff Hemmingway, RE/UP (818), 2Toxic & Chylite, with tunes brought to you by the one and only, DJ B Original!
If you knew how often this woman comes down to do an LA performance, then you’d probably understand why there was such a huge turn out at ChinkyEyed’s ten-year-anniversary celebration. The moment that she took a step inside the venue, everyone flocked to her! It got so crazy that it took her a few minutes to get on to perform! It was awesome to see that Mr. Len (Company Flow) took complete authority of the crowd to have them split the floor in two so that Jean was able to walk down the path to the stage and bless everyone with her performance! Everyone definitely enjoyed all the fuckery that went on with her and Mr. Len’s antics, as well as her music!
Oh yea, did I mention that Just Blaze stopped by?
Shoutout to all the acts that blessed the Airliner, and a SPECIAL shoutout to the ChinkyEyed LA crew! Thank you for all your hard work in giving the LA scene some really good hiphop shows, and blessing the crowd with up-and-coming talent from all over, especially those here at home.
This thursday, ChinkyEyed LA & Duck Down Music will be getting together to bring you an evening of streaming Pete Rock & Smif-N-Wessun‘s Monumental album, which is scheduled for today’s release. Although that may be the case, for those of you who arent planning on getting the album today can take the opportunity to listen to it thursday night and check it out for yourselves.
In addition, there will be an event called Battles On Broadway, which will consist of two competitions: emcees and beats. The emcee competition, which has a $300 cash prize, will be hosted by Kap Kallous; the beat battle (which has 14 producers/$100 cash + prizes) will be hosted by I Suppose.
This thursday night over at The Airliner, you can expect Chinky Eyed & The Cafeteria Line bring you some of the dopest acts from the LA area. All you have to do is look at the lineup, and just make your way here. Purchase your tickets [here]. #SupportSoCalHiphop
Guess who’s going to be in town next week from Australia? I already know about Planet Asia, but I’ve never heard Copywrite get down.. anyways check them out in San Francisco on 3/20 at 33o Ritch, and in LA at the Airliner, brought to you by ChinkyEyed LA.
Alright. Here are two dope shows you should definitely come out to see. The homies ZOOLAY made it on the flyer with Montage One for the 4th, while Crown Royale will be headlining the show the following week at the Airliner. It’s 18+.
