Paul Francis Conrad
[June 27, 1924 – September 4, 2010]
If none of you has ever, and I DO mean EVER, picked up an LA Times newspaper and seen a cartoon sketch taking shots at politicians, then you’re REALLY blind to what’s going on around you, and need to change that. His sketches were on point; they pretty much will either make you mad [literally], laugh, or feel ambivalent simultaneously. To me, Paul Conrad is the “political” Stan Lee/Jack Kirby/Steve Ditko [Marvel Comics] all in one [of our time]!
Check out one of my favorite cartoon images below. It’s so relative to today’s time.
“In a career of more than 50 years he won three Pulitzer Prizes, made Richard Nixon’s enemies list and ruined Ronald Reagan’s breakfast.” – Andrew Dalton [AP]
