As part of KCRW Summer Nights series, here’s a special treat for you. If you’re really a huge fan of the 1983 classic documentary Style Wars, then here’s your opportunity to come out and check out the screening AND listen to the director of the film Henry Chalfant speak about how it came to fruition. The homie Anthony Valadez will be spinning tunes that inspired the film as well! It is FREE, and RSVPs are FULL; but there’s a standby line that will be in effect.
So I advise you guys to arrive early to the Oscars Outdoors venue in Hollywood. Check out the details below:
Beginning at 6pm, enjoy music from KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez, street artists in action — including legendary L.A. graffiti artists Mear One and Risk — live t-shirt printing by Hit + Run (6-8p), an introduction by actress Catherine Keener, a conversation with the film’s co-director Henry Chalfant and co-editor Sam Pollard, b-boy dance performances, food trucks and more!
Free and All Ages! R.S.V.P.s are at capacity, but there will be a standby line at the door.
Come down early as standbys will start to be admitted as early as 6:30pm on a first-come, first-served basis. Gates open at 6pm.
Bring your picnic baskets, blankets, lawn chairs, BYO beer & wine (no hard liquor, please).
